Housing Options

Nearly all of the College of Medicine students live off-campus, many within walking distance, and most within biking distance. Add the option of free transportation via Gainesville’s RTS bus system, getting to and from campus and Shands couldn’t be easier! These reviews were written by members of the Class of 2024 based on a class survey. Feel free to check out our “Out of State Gator” page which has useful information for anyone who hasn’t lived here before.

Options for living in Gainesville as a medical student

This spring, we polled the Class of 2025 about where they live; 81 students responded out of 160. Thus, these results are fairly representative of the entire class. We hope that the survey helps you find a place to live where you are happy during your time at UF COM. Also, please note that this information is based on student responses to our survey- all final information will come from the apartment complex/landlord. Class of 2025 housing survey is below!

For those who have already found a place to live, Cox is the main cable/internet provider and GRU is the main electricity provider. DirecTV may also be an option for cable and internet services. Some apartments will already have internet and electricity set up for you.
